How this site makes money, which links pay us, and what that does and does not change.

The disclosure

In accordance with the Federal Trade Commission's guidelines on endorsements and testimonials (16 CFR Part 255), please be aware that this site may contain affiliate links. If you follow a labelled link to a private insurance provider and later buy a policy from that provider, we may receive a referral commission from the provider or from an affiliate network acting for it. The commission is paid by the provider; it does not change the price you pay.

Which links are affiliate links

Every affiliate link on this site is marked in the page code with the sponsored attribute, and the button or link text makes clear that it leads to a third-party provider. Links to OPM, to source documents and to other reference material are not affiliate links. At the time of this disclosure, no affiliate partnership is active; when one becomes active, the partner will be named in the list below and this page will be updated.

What a commission does not affect

• The FEGLI premiums and coverage amounts on this site are computed from OPM's published rate table and rules. No partner supplies, reviews or influences those figures.
• The private term life estimates are drawn from independently published average rates, not from any partner's pricing, and are shown whether or not a partner link is present.
• We do not rank, rate or endorse providers, and we do not receive payment for placing one provider ahead of another in the calculator's output.

What we are not

We are not a licensed insurance broker or agent. We do not sell, solicit or negotiate insurance, we do not take applications, and we have no role in any provider's underwriting or pricing decisions. A referral is a link to a third party; your relationship with that third party is governed by its own terms and privacy policy.
